5 of us went there for my birthday, last Thursday, 10th. We hadn't booked but the place was almost empty when we arrived at 7.30 (2 couples dining). The manager was miserable-looking, and didn't smile or welcome us warmly at all. (his face was like that all evening) The decor was common, shabby even. Background music was jazz I think, but certainly not authentic Italian stuff. The waiter was miserable. Luckily, the food was very good, tasty and and very hot. The place filled up with quite a lot more customers later. There were some regulars, who obviously like the place, and were greeted by the manager with smiles, hugs and a kiss on the cheek. (so he CAN be friendly, but apparently only with customers who frequent his tatty restaurant) Nobody came round to ask if we wated to order more drinks, but eventually one of us caugt the eye of the waiter, and he took our order (notinhg complicated- 3 pints of beer, 2 glasses of wine, same as the first round we had). He failed to bring the glasses of wine, and we had to ask for them 10 minutes later. Overall, good food but no other good comments to make, and no recommendations to anyone. Not worth a 2nd visit |
